Daryl Hennessy, president and CEO, joined the firm in 2004 after a career in government in Columbus and Washington, D.C. A nationally certified Economic Development Finance Professional, Daryl holds a master’s degree in public administration from The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Ohio University. He is an Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association Certified Landscape Technician. As with most owners in small business, Daryl wears many hats, including salesman, laborer, manager, designer and more.
Daryl has become an expert on water issues in the landscape.
Kim was 18 when she joined the firm.
Kimberly Torgerson, vice president, joined the new company after graduating from high school in 1988. One day her brother-in-law Mark helped her install some plantings and suggested she consider a degree in landscaping. Good idea, she thought. After Kim earned her associate degree in horticulture from Clark State University in Springfield, she helped us expand our landscaping installation business. Kim interned one summer for a local nursery to gain some extra experience in greenhousing, propagation, maintenance and more. Her certifications from ONLA include Landscape Technician, Grower Technician and Garden Center Technician.
Joan Hennessy, co-founder, has worked in the field on and off for several years. While working at Ohio State University, she completed three years of college work and developed many skills in marketing and computer systems. After several years, she left the university and returned to Hennessy Landscaping full time in administration. Joan is an ONLA Certified Landscape Technician.

Paul Hennessy, co-founder, has more than 50 years experience in the agriculture business. Now retired, Paul decided to go on his own in 1988 after a restructuring at the fertilizer/chemical company where he worked. The green industry was beginning to take off, and Paul felt landscaping was a natural fit for him. He and Joan left fliers for mowing and lawn care service on many doors and contracted with 15 customers.
The rest is history.
